I have an issue while uploading audio file, when i click 'ok' button to upload audio file , its showing only 60% complete and audio not uploaded.

Hi,

I used the SSM.EXE command to install to a subsite, it just says check logs and does nothing else. So I ran it again, and now it just says the solution is already retracting.

Solution Manager shows that it "Failed".

Should I remove it and try again? If so, how do I remove it as Central Admin > Operations > Solution Manager has no options to retract or delete.

I'm pretty sure I found the answer.

1: From MS SQL Server Management Studio, click Connect to connect to your OFFICESERVERS.

2: Click the + next to Databases, where it displays RatingStore, right-click on RatingStore database, select properties.

3: In the Select a Page area on the left-hand side, select Permissions

4: In the main area, click View Server Permissions From here, you can add a User Account and Grant Explicit Permissions to the RatingStore database.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Hi All,

I'm going through the install using the August 2009 documentation and I'm stuck on certain parts of the instructions as they have no step-by-step process. I'm hoping someone can provide help us out.

At the Ratings and Comments Database, it says After the database is created, give the Application Pool identity dbo access to the database.

Also on Page 10: Ensure that the Application Pool identity have dbo access to the database RatingStore.

I know very little to almost nothing about SQL Server, so this part is beyond my knowledge.

Can someone please provide the steps involved for these two parts?

Include the PKS Build: PKS August 2009 Beta
Include the Server OS & SQL Version: Windows 2003 Server & SQL Server 2005
Check if an existing thread has already been started with the same or similar issue: Checked, nothing found.
After the issue is resolved it's helpful to share the final solution so the community befits from the learning

Please can someone help!

We are planning to implement SP2010 with PKS but, we want to understand if I there are any suitable addins or native SP features that allows podcast bandwidth throttling.

I understand we could use Smooth Streaming - really want to know how efficient it is!

Or should we look at a network device or a 3rd party add in?

after creation of new podcast list for attaching eventhandler i have deativated pkslist update event handler feature and activated again after activation of pkslist update event handler feature

it is recreating configuration list. i have made default changes to custome(like MediaEncoder.Monitorpath,MediaEncoder.Monitorweb).after that when i upload a video it is encoding perfectly ,but when i tried to

approve that uploaded video it is approving after some time it is coming to Pending stage again.please help on this if anybody have faced same issue

Hello

I have new SP2010 Installation. I want to use PKS with SP2010, will this support SP2010 and what are open pros/cons with SP2010.

Secondly what type of file format its supporting and what is max size of file I can upload, it seems it will not allow more than 50 MB fiile.

I also want to integrate with SharePoint Learning Kit, is this possible?

Similar Problem

I have PKS installed on my SP farm, and for some reason it's a only available as a global deployment. i.e. it put the below entry on all the web.config files of web applications hosted in the farm. All though only PKS web app needs the download tracker the web.config entry is added to other app's which is not necessary. I tried to manually strip them away but each day they come back. I have an error generated on the download tracker every minute. Please see the error message below. Any solutions?

i want to use rating feature for site collection that allow anonymous. as it allow anonymous rating, there is no need to use database for storing rate (as data will be stored in list too)..

by using PKS rating feature, which part should i change to block data saving to database?

I misunderstood a few things. What is happening I think is firstly when you go to the trimmed url, MOSS will prompt you for a username and password like you would hope for.

After that if you have the ACLs wide open on the file, you can play it. Closing down the ACLs on the files/directory just to the 'ap pool id' will cause you to be prompted by

IIS for username and password.

In IE browser settings. Tools->Internet Options-> Security(tab), do the settings under appropriate zone in which your site is opened by IE browser.

Hi Criss,

It is not security by pass, it is due to security settings of your IE browser. IE Browser is taking your current windows log in to log in into site.

you can verify this by changing the security settings for the zone in which this site is opening, you can change user authentication log on to "Prompt for user name and password" and then try it out, IE browser will ask you for password every time you restart browser and access site.

Also about parameter at the end of the file url, it is tracking parameter to track from which page file is downloaded was file played or normal download or downloaded using RSS etc.
