Media Encoder information needed

Hi there,

I have made a setup of the June and tested on the August release as well.

Everything works fine on the server and I am happy with the stability.

I have one question regarding the Media Encoder.

Users need to upload files out of the standard video formats like FLV, etc...

When I upload a FLV for example, the thumbnail gets generated and the auto encode rule to transcode to mp4 works and my mp4 file is generated.

If I create a rule to transcode to wmv the WMV file is generated but does not show up as playable in the silverlight player but instead it shows in the related materials

My Question is the following :

Is it possible to automate server side transcoding so that any video file (assuming necessary codecs are in place on the server) uploaded is made silverlight playable and user does not need to click the "make it silverlight compatible" ?

thanks for your help

Best Regards

Duncan

Hi,

This is possible.

You have to modify code of Media encoder service utility to behave in this way.

But i am not sure we are allowed to do it or not.
