"Edit Podcast" Link not shown in podcastdetail

Aug 4, 2009 at 12:35 AM

Hi all,

I installed the latest July Beta Release. When configuring the advanced security settings (as per "How to apply Security settings.docx"), I couldn't find the "Content Editor Web Part" with the "Edit Podcast" link on the podcastdetail page.

I manually added the web part, but wasn't able to figure out how the link should be constructed so that it points to the edit page for the current item.

Could someone please post the url or a hint how to create this missing web part?

Thanks a lot for your help,
David

Hi David,

The Edit Podcast link appears in the right hand side of the PodcastDetails page under the "Podcast Tools" section.

The Podcast Tools web part should appear by default on installation of PKS and you need not create this manually.

Following is the content of Podcast Tools web part in case you wish to create it manually:

<table border="0" width="252px" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="border:1px #cccccc solid;">
<tr>
<td width="100%" colspan="3" style="background:black url('/Style Library/PodcastingKit/Images/nav_header_02.gif') repeat-x;border-bottom:1px #cccccc solid;" height="27px" align="left" >
<center>
<span style="font-size:small;font-weight:bold; color:#333333;padding-left:3px;" >Podcast Tools</span>
</center>
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
	<td>
	<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0" width="100%">
	<tr>
		<td id="regenerateThumbnail" align="left" width="22px" style="padding:5px 0 0 5px;">
			<img src="/Style Library/PodcastingKit/Images/gen_thumb.gif" alt=""/></td>

		<td style="padding:5px 0 0 5px;">
			<a href=" javascript:EncoderAddThumbnailToQueue();" style="font-size:11px;width:30px;">Generate Thumbnail</a>
		</td>

		<td id="defaultThumbnail" align="left" width="23px" style="padding:5px 0 0 5px;">

		<td style="padding:5px 0 0 5px;">
			 <a href=" javascript:SetDefaultThumbnail();" style="font-size:11px;width:30px;">Default Thumbnail</a>
		</td>
	</tr>

	<tr>

			<img src="/Style Library/PodcastingKit/Images/editPodcast_thumb.gif" alt="" width="23px"/>
		</td>
		<td id="editLink" style="padding:5px 0 0 5px;">
			 <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">var editLink = document.getElementById("editLink");editLink.innerHTML = GenerateEditLink();</script>
		</td>
	</tr>
	<tr>
		<td style="padding:5px 3px 0 3px;" colspan="4">
			<a href="javascript:EncoderAddToQueue()">
			<img src="/Style Library/PodcastingKit/Images/encode.gif" alt="Encode Uploaded media file" onmousedown="javascript:EncoderAddToQueue()" style="text-decoration:none;border:none"/>
			</a>

		</td>
	</tr>

<tr>
		<td style="padding:5px 3px 0 3px;" colspan="4">
			<a href="javascript:UpdateCsId()">
                         Click here if Player is not seen.
			</a>

		</td>
	</tr>

</table>

	</td>
</tr>
</table>
Hope this helps.

Hi Parag,

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I found the edit podcast icon now. It looks like the "How to apply Security settings.docx" document is slightly out of date, as it mentions that edit podcast is a standalone webpart.

Cheers,
David
