PodcastDetail.aspx - Service does not exist

Mar 25, 2009 at 9:12 AM
When i click on the thumbnail on PodcastDetail.aspx page, for a video i uploaded, it opens the video in the next page but before the video is displayed, i get 2 warning alerts.

1. Service does not exist.
2. Blank alert.

I checked SQL services, media encoder service. They are started. Which service should i be looking at?

These alerts are given by the Rating and Commenting component when the following web.config entry is not found in the httpHandlers section:
<add path="*.Ratings/*,*.Ratings/*/*,*.Ratings/*/*/*,*.Ratings/*/*/*/*,*.Ratings/*/*/*/*/*,*.Ratings/*/*/*/*/*/*" type="Microsoft.MSIT.Ratings.Web.WebService.HttpHandler,Microsoft.MSIT.Ratings.Web, Version=, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=039e36666027bfc6" verb="*" />

But from your other post it seems that you have this entry added to the web.config file but I guess there is no harm in double checking this :).

Hey! Thanks!

The mistake i was doing is - i had included the above httphandler entry in the web.config of Central Admin. Since the installation guide mentioned this step in the configuration section where all was being configured in central admin, got that doubt.

Anyways thanks once again!

The correct thing is to do the above setting in the web.config of your website where pks is hosted.
