Just can not seem to get it started and this day 2. I am using the admin account for the site app pool for the log on identity too. Also verified there are no spaces in the PKS Media Encoder Monitor Locations list

Hi ,
Actually i dont understand , whether u are using "http://pks3demo"  or ur website address. Bcoz , you have to use your web address instead of "http://pks3demo" and  you should have a path on on local PC "c:\UploadFiles" which should contain all the prperties which are mention in the ReaFirstDoc. And one more thing , "http://pks3demo/UploadFiles/" , this should be the url of your Virtual Directory .
Try It .

http://pks3demo is the web address. It is the web address to my SharePoint site.

I have the c:\UploadFiles on the server and everyone have read and write permissions.

Anymore advice on this issue? I have checked and triple check config settings.

Check your "MediaEncoderService.exe.config" file.  You may have "c:\uploadfiles" where you should have the list name where your PKS configuration settings should be.  Example:
...
<appSettings>
    <add key="configList" value="PKS Configuration Settings" />
...

That was the problem. Thx
