Editing PKSMasterPage.master

Nov 12, 2008 at 1:08 PM

When trying to make a copy of the most recent PKSMasterPage.master in Sharepoint Designer I get the following error message: “The control type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' is not allowed on this page. The type is not registered as safe.” The problem also occurs when trying to save the original masterpage using Sharepoint Designer.

I have followed the guide lines from this thread http://www.codeplex.com/pks/Thread/View.aspx?ThreadId=39345 about creating custom masterpages. And both my masterpage and web.config seems to have the required content.

Thanks

Added support for for .NET 3.5 directly in the web config and then it worked.
I am still confused over the fact that it worked at installtion and not after creating a new master page.
Obviously I overlooked something?
Can someone direct me to an explanation?

The error generated in SharePoint designer can actually be disregarded and has no side effects. However by adding full .Net 3.5 support to the web.config just as you did will prevent the error for being displayed in SharePoint designer.
