Hi,

Are there any workarounds for installing the podcasting kit on 64bit architectures?

For example,

1.- SilverLight 2.0 is not supported in Windows 2003 IA-64. See http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/resources/install.aspx?v=2.0#sysreq
2.- Windows Media Encoder 9 Series 64 bit version fails to install on Windows 2003. The warning clearly states that incopatibilities may occur with
an existing 32 bit version. Odd enough this is a clean server.

All in all, should we assume that it's best to use 32bit and just hope for the best in the future?

We've done thorough tests on Windows Server 2008 x64 for the last three PKS releases and can insure the compatibility on this platform.
We have stopped testing on Windows Server 2003 x64 since July and incompatibilities could occur indeed. However if that can help we were able to make silverlight 2.0 beta 1 in 32 bit mode on windows server 2003, and we never had any issue deploying the windows media encoder 9 for x64 systems.

ludovicf,

Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately, I don't see us migrating to Windows 2008 64bit any time soon...
As far as "Silverlight 2.0 and Windows 2003",  I'll find a way to install the 32bit version of Silverlight on a Windows 2003 64 bit somehow.

Thanks again for the info.
