Created Issue: Unable to Play, Comment, Rate Anonymously [9078]

Hi,
My Subsites are unable to stram podcasts when the silverlight player is played. Also evrytime I try to Rate or comment anonymously, It pops up a login window.
When I am logged in as an administrator it works fine.
I've enabled anonymous access to view + add for PKS COmmentsList and also enabled Ratings for PKS Podcast. Also Anonymous access is there for entire site.
Would really appreciate help in resolving whatever I am missing here.

I have tried to follow the Taxonomy Support Columns.doc . I have followed it to the word but can't get it working. The extra column that was defined just won't appear in the Category section.

Please can you advise. I have uploaded the Taxonomy Support Columns.doc that I have been following.

I'm having the exact same issue. Did you solve this? There are a couple of how to documents, the one you have attached and a video. There is also a doc on how to edit the xml to the leftnav.xml on later versions (I'm in Aug09). I can add a select box to the categories on the upload podcast page, add to the left hand navigation, but the categoies do not show up on the podcast. If anyone can describe how to accomplish this feat...I will commit to create a podcast on the process.

Created Issue: Content Rating Configuration Settings in your PKS Website is missing [8826]

Howdy all,

Just following the installation guide and have came to page 11, Section "PKS Rating and Commenting skin, Roll Up Configuration".

It states:

1. In your PKS web site open the custom list Content Rating Configuration Settings
2. Update the key RaterSkin with the value dark.htm. It is easier to update this key using the datasheet view.
3. Change the value with true of key EnableRollUp.
4. Change the value with Author of key RollUpColumnName.
5. Change the value with false of key RatingDisplayPopupCommentControl. This value ensures that text box does not come up while rating. For commenting a separate text box is provided on the podcast detail page. These comments will be stored in the list PodcastComments on the site.

However on my PKS Site (http://server/video/podcasts) there is no such list named "Content Rating Configuration Settings"

Could someone provide guidance on this issue please?

The RSS feed for the podcast library gives the following error when clicked.

The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.

This is using the August release of PKS. It is giving the error for all users, even admins.

Hi,
I am currently trying to install PKS August version. I have followed the guide thus far without problems. I have entered the ssm.exe install pksfull.xml http:// command which has created the log file, created an entry into Solutions in Central Administration and also created a record in the timer job status for the install to begin. I look into the log file and it tells me it is installing the first cab file and then simply stays like that. I have re run the SharePoint Product and Technologies Configuration Wizard again as suggested but to now avail. Any clues here appreciated. I am installing into a subsite of an existing site. We have Windows Server 2003 running with Sharepoint 2007. My site runs MLG and SLK and I had placed my subsite within the collobarative site of that install. I have used the administrative account for all tasks within sharepoint.

I am having issues with the encoder and large files with the march build on farm. When I upload a file larger than 80mb, it fails to generate a thumb nail and does not show up in the silverlight player. In the encoder log, you can see it is stuck at 'Item created *************************) stage. Any ideas would be appreciated. Attached is a sample log file.

when adding a picture as a mugshot for a user, the picture looks skewed. Is there a way to rectify this problem? See attached.

Actually you need to change the XSL sheet associated with the page being viewed. The web part itself does not give you any option in this regard.

Hi, please help me, because i have a webpart error in my PKS deployment. My site it's running, but my webparts in home page show an error.

I have the same issue. I know that the taxonomy column was correctly created, because I managed to create a custom filter using this column on the main page and its content is also taken into consideration during search requests. However, it is not listed in the Category section of the podcast detail page. I tried edit the XSL and directly access the field, but nothing came to fruition. Any tips would be appreciated.

I have finished configuring the Search settings and I am trying to do a search on Podcasts. When I try to submit the search, I get the following error message:

"Property doesn't exist or is used in a manner inconsistent with schema settings."

I can do a search on the Podcasters without any issues, I only have this problem with the Podcast search.

My problem disappeared after I followed the "Search" instructions in the install guide. Don't get distracted that they follow a discussion of optional iTunes support, these two things are not directly linked.

Hi All,

I really need your help to reolve my issue. This is very urgent to me. Pls help me on this issue.

I have a moss site intsally developed on forms authontication and extended to winodws authontication. now in my forms site when ever i log in as a admin i can able to play videos and can able to see author information.
But when i open my site with anonymous access even i press play button , Video is not playing. and i am not able to see the author webpart as well. When i click on install silver light it showing me Forbidden.And When i click on download link of a video it is redircting me to login page.

I am working currently on december beta.Pls see the attached image for reference.

Please help me on this issue.

Unfortunately, PKS does not support anonymous access out of the box.

We here at 3Sharp were able to get our site (http://getsharp.3sharp.com which is running on the November beta) running with anonymous access, but we had to re-write several sections of code. The hardest part is getting the Author information to show up, because SharePoint will not allow you to turn on anonymous access to the User Information List. We had to write a custom Web Service that returned the data and then redo all of the web parts to use it.

Background:

We're doing a proof-of-concept around Sharepoint 2007. It's installed using VMWare on Windows Server 2008 64-bit. This covers the whole farm which is 2 front-end boxes, one database box and one index server box.

Problem:

We're trying to use the PKS podcast kit from Codeplex. We run into two problems: video vs search. One site we setup has the search working but the video doesn't while another site the video works but not the search (you can't search the video streams).

TweedleDee:

Where video works, we get the thumbnail, the duration, and streaming using the silverlight player. When you try to search using the podcasters scope, you get zero search results regardless of the query string. When you search using the podcast scope you get no results and an error message on result page: "Property doesn't exist or is used in a manner inconsistent with schema settings." The search scopes are a part of the PKS solution so they weren't a custom configuration choice of ours. In the administration setup for search you are supposed to map fields from the target content type to equivalent ones for the search engine except there are two fields that are missing from the list of search fields, ows_Total_x0020_Downloads(Decimal) and ows_ContentType(Text).

Here is one of the mappings that we're trying to setup:

* Property name: Downloads
* Type: Decimal
* Mappings: ows_Total_x0020_Downloads(Decimal)
* Use in scopes: false

This comes up again where we are supposed to define a new search scope, for Property Query select 'ListContentType' where 'ListContentType' isn't a choice.

TweedleDum:

Another site we setup to exercise the podcasting kit, we upload videos but they do not get any thumbnails or duration information and when you select a video the player never comes up. The list of videos shows the entries for everything that was uploaded and when you search for a title or a podcaster the search returns what you would expect.

I can view the Author and Co-Author web parts when logged in as a site collection administrator. However other users, no matter what level of security outside of a site collection admin, cannot see these web parts. I have looked in the page code and unless I am completley missing something I cannot tell why this is happening. I am using the April 09 Beta. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Originally I installed PKS to my top level site http://collabportal. After getting to the Masterpage instructions I realized that the ideal setup for me was a sub-site http://collabportal/pks
I retracted PKS for the top level, created a sub site with the publishing portal template. I installed PKS to the sub site and then bam, my whole site collection was unreachable.
I believe retracting PKS from the top level site, left entries in the web.config file which made the site unreachable. I have an app developer on my team clean up the web.config and our site went back to normal.
To clean up further I retracted PKS from the sub site as well.

Since then our site works but we still have a few problems. Our event log is spammed with 1309 errors
Exception message: Feature 'd87c9770-db38-4761-a39d-89ee73eec1c5' for list template '101' is not installed in this farm. The operation could not be completed.
This GUID points to PodcastSeries and ExecutiveSeries

Looking at my top level site I can see that PodcastSeries and ExecutiveSeries document libraries are still present. If I try to access Manage Content and Access, I get the exception list above and therefore I cannot delete the libraries

I have read articles that mention re-installing the document library template http://lazydotnetblogger.blogspot.com/2009/03/feature-00bfea71-e717-4e80-aa17.html but this hasn't helped

Currently I am stuck. Potentially re-installing PKS to the sub-site might replace the guid sharepoint is looking for, but last time I did this our whole site went down, any thoughts? Are there more steps I could take to clean up the two botched PKS installs?

Bing, sorry you felt into an old PKS trick... PKS requires to be deployed at the root first. There is documentation in the release package that then describes how to implement the capabilities on a sub-site. It's not advised to try to deploy directly on a sub-site.
