New Post: PKS August 2009 Beta Released

Our install in not part of an upgrade but is a new install and we are also experiencing the same error as reported by an earlier poster. Does anyone have addtional suggestions on how I might troubleshoot this?

Is this a .NET issue? Please advise. Thank you!

hello ,

i have a problem in the sliverlight uploader , when i upload the video over http (from remote connection ) the upload speed is too low , i upload with 4 kb per sec. BTW my connection speed is 20 mega :(

please i need to know how to increase the upload rate ...

I have installed August release and encountered error during configuration. All was good at the beginning. This error is on the PKShomepage and other pages that reference webpart for PKS. Anyone have any ideas for me to check. I am currently on page #14 of the installation and started to notice the error on the pages. I have installed as a top level site and this is a new installation.

I did notice this step, but unsure how this is done.

XML Changes (For Navigation)

Update the Url attribute of the xml nodes in TopNav.xml and LeftNav.xml

Note: Make sure MenuId, SubMenuId should be in sequence.

We've been working with Sharepoint without PKS installed. We're merely trying to use the contentbyquery web part to watch document folders, and then create a feed based upon the folder content. We've found various sites that discuss building an alternate contentbyquery web part. We believe we've got that much working, and are able to call an alternate rss.xsl to construct the feed.

We're trying to get that rss.xsl to give us the proper output for an itunes feed rss.

Obviously, pks has this built in, and we've reviewed the itunesrss.xsl, zunerss.xsl, and pksrss.xsl, looking for bits we can grab to construct our alternate rss.xsl.

Just wondering if anyone else has already done this, and could pass along their alternate rss.

Also, can anyone point out from the pks itunesrss.xsl, the bits that are dependent upon apps, pages, etc., that the PKS installs?

I'm assuming you are talking about line 96? You changed:

var searchURL = "/Pages/PodcastSearchResults.aspx?k=" + encodeURIComponent(searchtext) + "&s=Podcasts";

to:

var searchURL = "PodcastSearchResults.aspx?k=" + encodeURIComponent(searchtext) + "&s=Podcasts";

Everytime I do this I get a "Page Not Found" when I go to my sub-site's main page. I have even tried to "re-hardcode" it so that is says /subsite/Pages/.... Always get the same error. Just making sure I'm following what you did. I did have some custom permissions on this site so that could be wrecking me too.

i have debug the javascript and i found that the funcation called EncoderGetFilePath() return an empty because there is no div has id "divPodcastFilesXml" :) :) .

please help me to find solution ..

Hi All,

My PKS Site was working properly all these days suddenly I got this error Unknown server tag 'asp:ScriptManager'. Then I enetered these entries in the web.config file

The site was able to work. But while uploading the Podcast file The Podcast Uploader is not getting displayed.Can any1 pls help me out.Thank you.

Anonymous user are not able to add comments to the podcasts.

I have kept the anonymous acess view + add for pks podcats comment list.

even when i click comment anonymously it pops the login window and if that is cancelled says u r unauthorised.

can u plz plz. help why it is not allowing. Itz an urgent issue.

Hi I am trying to upload a podcast in a new channel. but evrytime I click upload -> new item I get this error :

Security Exception

Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: The source was not found, but some or all event logs could not be searched. Inaccessible logs: Security.

can anyone please let me know why I am getting this error. I am logged in as administrator and have full access. Also I had uploaded one podcast a week back in the same channel created by me.

Is it that some security settings have been changed since then?

After a bit more digging, I get an message in the Event Viewer (not flagged as an error) from SPP Ratings stating "EVENT FAILURE IN WEB APP". Come to find out, none of the ratings webparts are "really" loaded (they say they are there but selecting them gives a "File Not Found" error). There is also no other errors displayed in the ssm.log file (looks like everything works). So it seems Ratings is completely inoperable for me right now. I've done numerous installs on PKS on this VM (always from scratch) so I don't think it is environmental (Windows 2003 Server). Suggestions would be helpful.

Hello all. I am attempting an install of August 2009 and am getting an error with Ratings. When I attempt to go to the Podcast Details page (or even the Podcast Files list), I get an error dialog titled "Message from webpage" with error text of "Service does not exist". I click OK on that and get another dialog titled "Message from webpage" with NO text in it. I click OK to that and then the page loads with no Ratings component loaded on the page. What is happening? I've got the usual suspects created (farm feature turned on, ratings turned on in the PKS Podcasts list, etc.). Any ideas out there?

Ok, I've found a couple of different documents on adding "taxonomy" (filter) for older versions of PKS and for newer versions that end in editing leftnav.xml.

I can successfully add a filter on the August09 version, using

Site Actions-View All Site Content -
click on PKS Podcasts list
create a PKST_filtername then the rest of the details, save,
go back in to same and delete PKST_ leaving just the name
Then configuring Podcast detail page using to Actions-edit page of the podcast detail page
edit - modify shared web part of Podcasts webpart
edit the CommonViewFields adding the PKST_filtername, Choice;

The filters show up on the edit podcast page. I can select and save them...but they don't show up in the "Category" so the filter does not function (after adding the filtername and options to the leftnav.xml).

Any ideas where I'm slipping up?
